Giant Floating Egg launches this Easter
A free kids' activity guide inspired by artist Stephen Turner's new exhibition, "Everything Comes From The Egg", will be available at the Grand Union Canal, Milton Keynes, during his residency in April and May 2017.
Children and their families are invited to visit and enjoy exploring the giant floating egg during its stop at the Grand Union Canal. A free 12-page activity booklet based on the ideas Stephen explores through his work has been designed to amuse, educate and inspire young visitors.
Stephen says: "I'm looking forward to seeing what younger visitors make of the exhibition. I hope the activity guide inspires them to think about the different ways, even in a very urban context, we can connect with our natural environment, including exploring, looking, finding, drawing, listening, making records, foraging, cooking, talking and sharing ideas and experiences".
Stephen will be in residence during the duration of the exhibition, and will offer a range of participation opportunities for local people, such as an artist’s walk and talk and personal invitations to take ‘Tea in the Egg’. These are special chances to enjoy conversation and to tune into thinking around contemporary life and our shared responsibility to care for nature. Stephen’s work often involves spending long periods of deep engagement in particular odd abandoned places, noting the changes in the complex relationship between people and the natural environment and this residence in Milton Keynes will lead to a new chapter in this ongoing project.
