Get Making in MK50 Maker Artists Demo Day
Venue: Central Milton Keynes Library
Date: 22 Jul 2017
Time: 10:30 to - 16:30
The Get Making in MK50 Roadshow features the work of local MK-based maker-artists. On Saturday 22nd July at the MK Central Library in Silbury Boulevard selected artists will be demonstrating their skills and providing 'have a go' activities.
Contribute to a piece of weaving and enter a raffle to win the final piece. Artist-blacksmith Nick will be letting people have a go at making copper into beautiful leaves and potters Andrew, Juan and Rosa will be showing various aspects of making ceramics, with the chance for people to get their hands on some clay.
Helen will be demonstrating how she applies colourful French knitting coils to her MK soft rocks, which are carved from MK-sourced broken insulation bricks. Each of the 50 rocks can be linked to a year in the life of Milton Keynes, with a plaque applied to the indented top, which represents an MK roundabout. Visitors will also be encouraged to put themselves on the creative map of Milton Keynes by filling in a card which tells others about the creative pieces they have made recently and adding a star to show where in MK they did their making.
